What is a "keto-flu" and what can I do about it?

It's possible that you may experience some symptoms in the first few days of your keto diet. This is often called "keto flu." It is not the real flu, but the symptoms are very similar. Rather than being the result of a virus, keto flu is caused by carb withdrawal. When you remove carbs from your diet, hormonal and electrolyte changes occur that cause the negative reactions including headache, sleepiness, and fatigue.
Keto flu usually only lasts a couple of days. To reduce the symptoms of keto flu, drink plenty of water. You can also supplement with magnesium, calcium, and potassium. Make sure that you also get enough sleep.
